On Route 28 West: Go about 12.5 miles on route 28 West, and turn left onto Reservoir Road, which is just past the Shokan Post Office (ZIP 12481) and a "Olive Bridge 4" sign. Go about 2 miles on Reservoir Road; it crosses the Ashokan Reservoir, and it dead ends into a "T" intersection. Make a left turn here onto Monument Road. Monument Road goes straight a bit then turns to the right and goes down the face of the Ashokan Dam. It is very short, less than half a mile, and the road forks. Follow the right fork onto Route 28A.You will be on Route 28A for less than a quarter of a mile. Look for Beaver Kill Road, and turn left onto it. There is a Police Station at the corner. ("kill" is the Dutch word for creek). Go about 1 mile on Beaver Kill Road, and look for a sign on the right hand side of the road for the "Ashokan Field Campus of the State University of New York". Make a right turn at the sign. Almost immediately, you have a choice of going straight or right. Take the right fork, again. Continue through the woods, and you will come to a parking area on the left. You may continue past this, and turn right down the hill to the compound. Unload your luggage/stuff and then return your car to this parking area. Parking space at the bottom is very limited.
If you are coming from areas such as Binghamton, Allentown, Central New York, etc.: There may be other ways to arrive which are shorter than the “major” interstates. If you are uncertain of the best route, contact one of our RG committee folks.
Please Note: After you cross the reservoir, it is now possible to ONLY turn left onto Monument Road. The other direction is closed.
